Welcome! Makueni County is a large area of more than 7,200 sq km with over 900,000 population, in the south-eastern part of Kenya. Makueni is famous for horticulture: our mangos are the best in the world. Our biggest mission is improve access to water to our communities. Already there are dozens of water management community projects: dams, irrigation schemes and boreholes. Improved water management will boost our agriculture bringing wealth for all. The County Council is a progressive local authority that concentrates on service delivery and facilitates investment.
The County Council of Makueni has opened up development information on the web, on maps and by sms. The Council has achieved the top performance in utilization of the Local Authority Transfer Fund, in a national ranking by the National Taxpayers Association. The County is further ranked fifth in utilization of Constituency Development Fund allocations. The Council has won a premium from the Government for which a new GRADER is being bought.
