Chairman Councillor Alois M Muia is a leader focused on development and unity of purpose. He is the current Chairman. He represents Mulala-Emali Ward.
Makueni County is one of the largest Counties in Kenya, with 7,263 square kms, about 900,000 population, 39 Wards and over 40 townships. The County Council area covers seven Districts: Makueni, Kibwezi, Nzaui, Mukaa, Kathonzweni, Mbooni West and Mbooni East. The length of the County area is approximately 250 kms from north to south and the width from 100 kms north to 20 kms south.

Development projects.
The County Council of Makueni is, according to a ranking done by the Ministry of Local Government, one of the best managed Local Authorities in Kenya. We offer quality services to our customers and we are sensitive to their needs.
Each year we support a large number of development projects identified by clocal communities in their Wards. We have started an SMS inquiry service for plot rent dues. We have started setting up Ward Information Centres to bring our services closer to the people.
