Tourism, Leisure and Recreation Centres
Most townships and population centres of Makueni County can be accessed from road A 109, which connects Nairobi and Mombasa. The highlands are best accessed by road C 97 through Machakos, a District centre and the first historic capital of Kenya. Two world famous national parks are accessed through Makueni: Chyulu Hills National Park and Amboseli National Park. Classic tourist hotels are along road A 109, in townships including Emali, Kiboko, Makindu and Kibwezi. Other important townships are Kathonzweni, Wote, Salama, Tawa and Kikima, all connected by tarmac roads in excellent condition.
