The Council and its residents are well aware of our development challenges. We live in a semi-arid climate and often endure prolonged droughts. The Council supports participatory identification of development projects: every year a cycle known as the LASDAP (Local Authorities Service Delivery Action Plan) consultative meetings take place in all Wards, led by the Ward Councillor supported by Council staff. A large number of the projects subsidized by the Council are water management projects, identified by local communities. Other projects proposed by our residents include: rehabilitation of feeder roads, construction of school classrooms, healthcare dispensaries, garbage collection, improving public markets and public toilets. The Council Social Services Department will assist you with detailed information on projects.
Maintenance of public markets and feeder roads are other services provided by the Council. There are 22 public markets serviced by the Council.

The County Council of Makueni has achieved the top performance in utilization of the Local Authority Transfer Fund, in a national ranking by the National Taxpayers Association. The County is further ranked fifth in utilization of Constituency Development Fund allocations. As a result, the County will be allocated a bonus of Ksh 18 million for higher performance, by the Ministry of Local Government. “These achievements show that we are a working Council. We have the management capacity to utilize the additional Ksh 18 million, because many of our projects are underfunded,” said Mr Bernard Musau, Council Chairman.
